Finding a place to stay in San Francisco can be a challenge. Somewhere nice, not too expensive, close to public transportation or cheap parking. It is a high task, but recently one of my favorite places where I can meet these requirements is a variety of places around Union Square & Nob Hill.
The hotels are amazing. You’d be surprised, but you can get some great deals as well. Whether it’s a steal itself or a great way to get luxury at a discounted price. And between the central location and proximity to public transportation you can easily get everywhere in the city.
I typically drop the car off at a BART station, where you will find free parking on the weekend and just $5 a day during the week. Then hop on the train to Powell Street and it is a short walk up to Union Square or a trolley ride up to Nob Hill.
Hotels on Union Square
As you walk up to the hotel you are greeted by a doorman who has just stepped out of the Renaissance. Full of charter, charm and history this has quickly become one of my favorite places to stay, anywhere. They have cozy rooms and friendly staff. We recently stumbled across a deal for just $130 (plus taxes) on Priceline Express Deals. Find out how to get a great deal here.
The Westin is right on Union Square and many of their rooms have beautiful views. Full of luxury this hotel has just about everything you need. From the San Francisco themed art room to the trolley’s outside, you get a taste of the City. This one is more of a splurge at rooms starting around $240 on Priceline.
Staying on the top of Nob Hill
I love to describe the Stanford Court as a four-star hotel without all the fuss. I enjoy luxury but sometimes these places feel stuffy and much less welcoming towards the young crowd. Mind you people of all age can appreciate the simple luxury of this place. It is up on Nob Hill across from the Intercontinental. The rooms are bigger than I expected out of a San Francisco hotel. Plus they give you two free water bottles and any more are only $1. The simple things a hotel can do to make your life easier with little cost them. While their rates aren’t always low we stayed there in the off-season for only $130 (plus taxes).
For a real splurge in the city where you can spend the night amidst delegations, royalty, and celebrities the Fairmont on the top of the hill is one of the classic places to stay in the city. Whether it is relaxing in the luxurious lobby with a glass of wine or a mai tai in the Tonga Room downstairs it’s a great place to spend your evening. Rooms can run in the $400s but from time to time you can find deals on Priceline for as low as $199. Curling up in their soft sheets with views of the city are well worth that rate.
Enjoy A Great Night With Your Stay in San Francisco
Whether you are in the city to get away, go to a concert or ball game or even to visit friends make sure to take a look at spending a night in luxury on Union Square or up on Nob Hill as the where to stay in San Francisco. Take a trolley ride over to the wharf or part way to North Beach for an Italian dinner. The trick is to pick it up north of union square where the lines are much smaller.
