India is a breathtaking place you have to go at least once in your life. It has countless things to offer, and you will always remember the experience. However, it is disappointing to find out some people live with the common misconception that India is a ‘no go’ destination. Their reasons are all related to the fact that India has faced significant poverty, and somehow, to some, the entire country is one big slum. They couldn’t be more wrong. What I will do is deny that misconception and show you why it is worth visiting.
Find out why India is a top destination to visit in 2017 and beyond.

India is one of the most culturally rich countries in the world. UNESCO has declared several World Heritage Sites, and they should all be on your itinerary. Maybe not all of them, but at least a couple. The Hindu temples and the old forts alone make up for most of the country’s culture. You can discover amazing yoga sites, and you can even speak to monks, which are a great company most of the times.

Maybe India is not the richest country, but the people will greet you with everything they have. Indians are very hospitable, and they are smiling all day long. Being among people like that will make feel like one of their own. No matter how little they have, they will always share with a smile on their faces. Their positive attitude and their spirit make up for everything they lack. For some, that alone is more valuable than all the riches in the world.
The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal constitutes the whole reason why some people go to India. You can’t even say you went there if you haven’t seen it. It’s the biggest token of love in the world and is one of the eight wonders. Going to India without seeing the Taj Mahal is like not going at all. It may be crowded at times, but it’s worth the chaos. Trust me.

Religion and spirituality
What you should know is that religion and spirituality is a big part of everyday life in India. People’s daily rituals are a profoundly intimate experience that is emotional even when you watch. It’s truly amazing to see how people value their spirituality above everything else. A lot of those who choose to travel to India go there to find spirituality, to practice yoga, or to attend a meditation retreat in an ashram.

India as a full-package destination
The four reasons stated barely begin to cover everything India has to offer. Don’t listen to negative comments or when people are extremely subjective towards this country. Instead, try to experience everything you can and only then you can form an opinion.
Quick tip: keep in mind that India is one of the countries that release online visas. Some people hate the bureaucracy and eliminate destinations that require standing in line at a consulate. However, if you do decide to go to India, which is strongly advised, you should know that you can apply for an Indian e-visa and have it in as little as 18 hours. Namaste!
