Many Northern California locals will advise anyone visiting California Wine County to avoid the most famous city it is known for, Napa. While the Napa Valley offers many great things they tend to come with additional costs and crowds. Just across the county line, Sonoma offers a variety of cities perfect for exploring delicious restaurants, boutique store, breathtaking views, world famous breweries, and, of course, wine country.
Sneak away from some of the crowds and start your wine country getaway at a Sonoma County Resort right in the center of the region, the Flamingo Conference Resort and Spa. Tucked right in Santa Rosa you’ll have easy access to the county’s best wine regions, top breweries and more. All while being in the luxury of a resort with cozy rooms, pool, spa, tennis courts, a delicious brunch, and more.

A Resort Offering All the Amenities
Your wine country getaway would be incomplete without a full resort experience. At the same time, some of the resorts in the area will blow you travel budget for the year. Flamingo Conference Resort and Spa, on the other hand, provide a high-quality stay with all the amenities without breaking the bank.
This Sonoma County resort provides a beautiful property to lounge around on between exploring whether it’s in the pool, getting a spa treatment, playing tennis, or enjoying a cocktail at the lounge.
The rooms themselves are cozy and spacious to spend a lazy morning in. They also offer multiple room suites are reasonable rates that are perfect for traveling with friends or family.
Central Location for Exploring Wine Country
Santa Rosa is centered between two of California’s top wine area. Sonoma proper and the Russian River. These regions produce different wines and each offer unique tasting experience. You’ll have a chance to explore each effortlessly from the Flamingo Conference Resort and Spa‘s location.
Head down to the Sonoma Square for a chance to wander through tasting rooms and hop over to one of the oldest wineries in the country, Buena Vista. Then visit one of the Sonoma County’s unique wine tasting experiences.
Just north of this Sonoma County resort, you’ll also find Healdsburg, a town in the heart of the Russian River wine region. You’ll be able to explore this cute town or head up into the nearby Dry Creek wineries. This town is also home to one of the best culinary areas in wine country, you’ll want to be sure to taste as much as you so I suggest hoping on a Healdsburg food tour.
Instead of heading straight north you can also drive along the Russian River and taste at the variety of wineries and even make it all the way to the town of Guerneville right on the river.
Santa Rosa itself is worth exploring with the Russian River Brewing Company, that produces Pliny the Elder and Younger some of the most sought-after beers around.
The Flamingo Conference Resort and Spa is in an ideal location to not just see a tiny piece of California Wine Country but the best of it is within a short drive.
Enjoy Their World Class Sunday Brunch
It’s pretty rare that when you search best breakfast or brunch in an area, especially a foodie haven, that you end up with a hotel at the top of the list. I tend to pass on these large buffet brunches but the Flamingo Resort’s Sunday Brunch is worth the ticket price.
$30 for brunch might seem steep but once you realize it includes endless champagne, that’s right it’s a champagne brunch, the price quickly balances out. On top of the bubbly, you’ll find what feels like an endless display of delicious food. From eggs benedict to prime rib to a seafood display to baked brie, you’ll have everything you need to fill up till dinner.
Hit the buffet right at 10:30 a.m. and then head over to the pool to relax off the tasty food and booze. The brunch helps make this Sonoma County resort the perfect place to stay for your wine country getaway.
The Ideal Sonoma County Resort To Balance Exploring & Lounging
For me, the perfect resort is one that has a great environment to lay back and relax at, but close enough to everything I want to explore. At the Flamingo Conference Resort and Spa, you can relax in your suite, at the pool or get a treatment at the spa. But if you’re like me and start getting antsy you can launch into exploring the surrounding wine country or head into Downtown Santa Rosa to try the bites and brews with a $5 uber ride.
This old style resort finds the balance of luxury amenities and ideal location. What else do you need from a Sonoma County resort on your next wine country escape?
