What more can you ask for from a hotel property than breathtaking ocean views, rooms luxurious rooms to relax in, all the amenities of a resort and a local watering hole to grab a drink and delicious bite in. On the Mendocino Coast in Northern California, you’ll find the Little River Inn tucked up on a slope right above a beautiful cove.
The Little River Inn is the perfect property for a relaxing weekend where you don’t do much more than sipping wine on your own deck overlooking the ocean or get adventurous with a week exploring everything Mendocino County has to offer.
As you turn the corner and pull off the Pacific Coast Highway you will be instantly impressed by the property. Whether it’s the cute lodge or the view when you turn around. The Little River is folded perfectly into the coast side.
Note: Thank you to The Little River Inn for hosting my stay on the property. As always, all opinions remain my own. You’ll find affiliate links in this post which allow me to continue to improve Traveling Nine to Fiver. I hope this article is useful for you.
Cozy Rooms With Everything You’d Want
The Little River Inn does a perfect job of combining making you feel at home and like you’re being showered with luxury. I actually wished I had more time during my stay to just relax in the room, but I did have a lovely evening where I didn’t make it further than my deck.
You’ll find everything you need, including a cozy bed where I slept much better than I typically do on a night away from home.
You’ll find room nights as low as $165 for their standard rooms, which all include a deck with a view, but if you can make the splurge I recommend upgrading to the jacuzzi and fireplace rooms. They will make you not want to leave your room during your stay.
Ocean Views And Decks To Enjoy Them
While there are many amazing things about the Little River Inn, one that is hard to beat is the view. Whether you’re walking the property, grabbing a drink or relaxing on your own deck, it is a perfect outlook over Van Damme Beach. Take in the beautiful coastline while relaxing.
My favorite part of my stay was relaxing out on the deck. You can listen to the waves crash, watch the birds hopping around the trees and check out and enjoy the North Coast how it should be.
If you’re like me you’ll even keep your windows open all night to hear the waves.
All The Amenities of a Resort
When you make a reservation at an “Inn” you normally find lovely but simple amenities but that is the complete opposite of what you will find at the Little River Inn. Instead, the amenities match a resort setting. Whether you are looking to play a round of golf, practice your tennis or get pampered at the spa you can do it all without leaving the property. The Little River Inn has everything you need for a relaxing weekend away without even leaving the property.
The property also has two dining options, both serve the same delicious menu but you can either sit down in the formal dining room or hang out in the bar and watch a game. The Little River Inn Restaurant is tucked beautifully in a garden where you feel almost outside with the wall-sized windows. Whether it’s for a welcoming brunch or a relaxing dinner their menu doesn’t disappoint.
If you’re looking for a casual spot with a view, grab a see at the Ole Whale Watching Bar. Here you can take in the view, and even a game, with a group of locals who will come in to spend the evening; all while enjoying the full menu. I particularly enjoyed the crab cakes.
On top of the luxury, if you’re looking to explore the Inn has a trail that with a five-minute walk will take you right down to the Van Damme State Park where you visit the beach, rent a kayak, or head into the park and walk the Fern Canyon Trail.
Located To Explore ALL The North Coast Has to Offer
With everything the Little River Inn has to offer it is easy to enjoy your entire stay without leaving the property but if you’re looking to explore the North Coast and Mendocino County the Inn has the perfect location.
You are just minutes South of Mendocino where you can hop up and enjoy the restaurants and shops, just another 15 minutes North you’ll find Fort Bragg. Here you can explore Glass Beach or try some of the North Coast Brewery Company’s finest brews.
South you’ll find Point Arena, Gualala and Sea Ranch. Whether you’re looking to drive the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway or visit the Point Arena Lighthouse it’s a 30-minute drive to spend part of the day exploring.
The Little River Inn is also just a 30-minute drive into the Anderson Valley where you can enjoy some of the best wines California has to offer. Check out my weekend itinerary for ideas on where all to explore.
Curl Up On the Deck And Relax A Weekend (Or Week) Away
After my weekend at the Little River Inn, I came back relaxed and recharged. Even while running around and exploring the area, coming back to the inn each evening was the perfect chance to detach and unwind. Enjoying the luxury of the rooms and charm of the property, not to mention that view, make a delightful Mendocino getaway.
Whether you’re heading up for a weekend or a week, looking to spend a romantic weekend or detach from everything and relax, or even going abalone diving off the coast, the Little River Inn provides the perfect accommodation to make the most out of your trip.
